The electoral system allows and determines that there are between 6 and 8 parties in the parliament. If there are more parties, it will be easier to make a majority. This was stated by the political scientist Assoc. Stoicho Stoichev in the morning block of bTV.
When asked how many parties could enter the 50th National Assembly, he replied that it depends on voter turnout, noting that if it is higher, it will increase the 4 percent barrier to entering parliament.
Stoychev indicated that there could be between 6 and 8 parties in the next parliament. If there are more parties, it is easier to make a majority.
According to him, the protest vote would be hard to win, since there are no new faces.
In Bulgaria we mostly vote party-wise or for new people. But a new face is currently missing. So, in my opinion, the protest vote will be realized by not voting or with the option “I do not support anyone”, explained Prof. Stoychev.
