Kharkov Oblast Police Chief Vladimir Tymoshko said on Ukrainian radio, that in recent days the city of Volchansk in the Kharkiv region has been subjected to massive bombardment with guided aerial bombs.
"This is a bomb weighing 250 or even 500 kilograms, it can knock down a multi-story building. In a sense, Volchansk is turning into Bakhmut or Marinka," RBC-Ukraine quoted Vladimir Tymoshko as saying.
As Tymoshko stated, the Russians are using scorched earth tactics, massively shelling the territory with artillery, and then trying to take it under control.
The scorched earth tactic is the large-scale destruction of all industrial, agricultural and civilian facilities to prevent their use by the reverse side.
Scorched earth tactics as a method of warfare are prohibited by the 1977 Geneva Convention
