Kosovo Defense Minister Eyup Macedonci said membership in NATO is urgently needed for the security of Kosovo. According to him, Kosovo has made great strides in terms of its preparation to be part of the North Atlantic Treaty, KosovaPress reported specifically for BTA.
Macedontsi emphasized in an interview with KosovaPress that increasing the status of Kosovo in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will help to achieve this main goal for the country.
Minister Makedonci stated that the Kosovo MPs, who will be part of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, will have the opportunity to present various resolutions on security in the Balkans.
„The raising of the status of Kosovo from an observer to an associate member is of great importance for our country. From now on, the legislative body will have the opportunity to develop many more activities within the framework of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly compared to the opportunities during the time when it was only an observer, he said.
Macedonians said that in terms of defense and security, Kosovo has built capacity according to NATO standards.
„Kosovo has made great strides in preparing to be part of NATO. Our institutions take continuous action. First of all, Kosovo is a democratic country, a country that respects all the values of the NATO countries. Politically, in terms of what the state of Kosovo looks like, we have all the parameters to be part of NATO, especially in terms of defense and security. We are constantly building our country's defense capacity in line with NATO standards. We are training the Kosovo security forces according to NATO standards”, said Makedontsi.
