"Here in the Asia-Pacific region, people are independent and self-reliant. They are "repelled" from trying to be drawn into confrontations and wish to live in an egalitarian and multipolar world. Every country in the Asia-Pacific region must ensure development and stability," Dong Jiu added.
He stressed that China is open to even more active naval cooperation and exchanges with the militaries of other countries to build on mutual trust and multi-faceted activities.
According to him, the current situation in the South China Sea is generally stable, but some countries have violated bilateral agreements as well as their own commitments by deliberately provoking incidents and creating misconceptions.
