Tonight in eastern Germany a tanker truck loaded with 36 000 liters of gasoline burst into flames near the Dresden-West highway interchange. The local fire department responded quickly, sharing details of the incident early this morning.
According to the emergency teams, the driver was unharmed, and the flames were extinguished before they engulfed the entire tank carrying the gasoline, DPA and BTA report.
The exact cause of the fire remains a mystery. The tanker came to rest under a highway bridge, which was also damaged by the flames. The section above the highway was temporarily closed, which led to traffic difficulties.
The road has reopened allowing vehicles to travel towards Dresden.
