The Ukrainian Navy announced today on its social media channel "Telegram" network that the armed forces of the country destroyed a base for unmanned aerial vehicles in the southern Russian Krasnodar region, DPA reported, as quoted by BTA.
Photos have been released that confirm the destruction of warehouses, operator training facilities and checkpoints in the Russian region east of the Crimean peninsula.
The strike was reportedly carried out by drones on Thursday night with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine.
At the time, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had repelled a major UAV attack in southeastern Russia. Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratiev reported several attacks, adding that an oil refinery and another site were damaged by debris from downed drones.
According to the information coming from Kiev, during the strikes drone instructors were killed, as well as soldiers trained by them.
Unmanned aerial vehicles have become one of the most important weapons for both sides of the conflict. Russian drones, missiles and planning bombs have caused devastating damage in Ukraine, especially against its power grid, DPA notes.
