Greece's foreign minister: Hezbollah's threats to Cyprus are "absolutely unacceptable" - 1

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece stated today that the threats of the Lebanese movement "Hezbollah" to Cyprus are unacceptable and that the European Union stands behind such threats, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA

„It is absolutely unacceptable to make such threats against a sovereign state of the European Union”, Greek Prime Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis told journalists upon his arrival in Brussels for the monthly meeting of EU foreign ministers.

„We are next to Cyprus and we will all be together in all kinds of global threats coming from terrorist organizations," Gerapetritis said.

Any threat against an EU country is also against the EU itself, a spokesman for the European Commission said at a press conference last week in response to a question related to threats against Cyprus by the leader of "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah.

On June 19, the leader of the Iranian-backed Lebanese Shiite movement said that “opening the Cypriot airports and bases to the Israeli enemy to attack Lebanon means that the Cypriot government has joined the war and resistance ("Hezbollah" ; - note ed.) will deal with it as part of the war".
