Hurricane "Beryl" ; - the strongest at this time of the year since such statistics have been kept - caused the death of at least six people on islands in the southeastern part of the Caribbean Sea, DPA reported, citing BTA, citing local authorities.
To date, three people have been confirmed dead in Grenada, two in Venezuela, and one in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Today the hurricane will hit Jamaica and then the Cayman Islands.
On Monday evening "Beryl" increased to the maximum, fifth category on the Saffir-Simpson scale. It then lost some of its strength, but sustained winds reached 250 kilometers per hour - one kilometer per hour below the threshold for classification as a Category 5, the US National Hurricane Center said.
