Trumpist conservative Kevin Roberts: We're headed for a second American revolution - 1

The head of a conservative think tank that has laid out a plan for a massive overhaul of the US federal government in event of a Republican victory in the presidential elections, said that the United States is in the midst of a "second American revolution", which will be bloodless "if the left allows it", the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

The president of the "Heritage" Foundation Kevin Roberts said this Tuesday in an interview on Steve Bannon's "War Hall" podcast. (War Room) and added that Republicans are "in the process of reclaiming the country".

Democrats are "in a stupor right now" because the right is winning, Roberts told former U.S. House of Representatives Congressman Dave Brat, one of the podcast's guest hosts filling in for Bannon, who is serving a four-year prison sentence. "So, I come back to that answer and I would like to encourage you with some facts that we are in the process of a second American Revolution, which will be bloodless if the left allows it."

Roberts' words shed light on how an organization that promises to play a significant role in a second term for former President Donald Trump views the current political situation in the United States, notes the Associated Press. Foundation "Heritage" is the author of "Project 2025", a large-scale road map prepared for the eventual new Republican Party team that will enter the White House after the election; the organization's plan calls for eliminating some segments of the federal government and replacing thousands of government employees with Trump loyalists who will follow a hard-line right-wing agenda without objection.

Roberts' calls for revolution and his hints, however fleeting, of violence are troubling some Democrats, who see them as a threat.

"This is frightening", wrote on the social network "X" Marian Williamson, former contender for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. "The design of their second American Revolution is to erase the first."

James Singer, a spokesman for President Joe Biden's campaign staff, made a reference to this week's celebrations to mark the Fourth of July, the US national holiday.

"248 years ago, America declared independence from a tyrannical king, and now Donald Trump and his allies want to make him one at our expense," Singer said in an emailed comment to The Associated Press. He added that Trump and his allies "dream of a violent revolution that will destroy the image of America".

Roberts, whose name Bannon recently floated before the "New York Times" as Trump's possible chief of staff should the latter return to the White House, said on the podcast that the Supreme Court's ruling on former presidents' judicial immunity should cheer Republicans.

It is crucial, he said, because it gives the American leader freedom and he won't have to "worry every step of the way about the decisions he makes while in his official capacity".

In an emailed comment to the AP, Roberts said he stood by his words from the podcast interview. In his words, the people of the USA "are in the process of carrying out a second American revolution, the purpose of which is to return power from the elites and despotic bureaucrats".

"These patriots want a peaceful revolution with ballots," he said. "Alas, it is the left that has a long tradition of violence, so it is up to them to allow a peaceful transfer of power."
