Fires are raging in different parts of the American state of California, which is covered by a heat wave, France Press reported, quoted by BTA .

A new fire broke out near Yosemite Park.

Temperatures in the state reach 47 degrees Celsius in places.

In the northern part of the state, firefighters managed to control a strong fire, because of which several thousand people were evacuated.

Mexico reported that during the passage of hurricane “Beryl“ there are no victims across the country, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA, referring to Laura Velasquez, head of the civil protection agency.

The element made landfall yesterday in the state of Quintana Roo. On crossing to Mexico “Beryl“ weakened from a Category 2 hurricane to a tropical storm, Reuters and AFP added.

Previously at some point “Beryl“ was a category five and killed seven people in the Caribbean and Venezuela. “Beryl“ made landfall in Mexico at 5:55 a.m. local time yesterday northeast of Tulum, packing winds of 175 kilometers per hour. The storm toppled trees and power poles and blew away roofs. At least three municipalities in Quintana Roo state are without power now.

The weather did not affect the airports in Cancun, Tulum and Cozumel, where millions of tourists arrive each year. However, over 300 flights to these destinations were canceled because of “Beryl”. Over 2,200 people were evacuated to shelters. More than 25,600 law enforcement personnel were also deployed in the area to assist the population.

„Beryl“ continues its route into the Gulf of Mexico, where it is expected to strengthen and then move toward northwestern Mexico before reaching the US state of Texas.

Catania airport has gradually resumed operations after being closed yesterday due to the eruption of the Etna volcano, which caused volcanic ash to be sprinkled on the runway. Meanwhile, a red level of alert remains in effect on the Sicilian island of Stromboli due to the eruption of the volcano of the same name there, ANSA reported, quoted by BTA.

Due to volcanic ash from Etna, the mayor of Catania, Enrico Tarantino, has issued an order banning people from using two-wheeled vehicles for 48 hours. He also introduced a maximum travel speed of 30 kilometers per hour because of the volcanic ash that littered the roads in the city and its surroundings.

When Etna erupted, the columns of volcanic ash reached a height of 4.5 kilometers.

Dense clouds of volcanic ash also enveloped the island of Stromboli during its eruption, for which it remains under observation.
