Latest promises from Marine Le Pen: No French troops in Ukraine or missile strikes on Russian territory - 1

The leader of the parliamentary faction of the far-right National Unity party, Marine Le Pen, said that if her party wins the parliamentary elections, the prime minister she nominated will not allow Kiev to use long-range weapons supplied by France to strike Russian territory. She stated this in an interview with CNN.

"If Emmanuel Macron wants to send troops to Ukraine and the prime minister is against it, then the military will not go to Ukraine. The last word belongs to the prime minister," Le Pen said in an interview with CNN.

As Marine Le Pen explained earlier, although formally the commander-in-chief of the French armed forces is the country's president, the prime minister controls the budget and is therefore able to oppose the president's decision.

She previously said in an interview with Le Télégramme that sending French troops to Ukraine was a red line that her party would not allow to be crossed.

Macron has repeatedly stated that he adheres to a "strategy of uncertainty" regarding Russia and does not rule out sending French troops to Ukraine.
