The huge Russian state company "Rostech" announced today that its arms export unit had arranged for the production in India of armor-piercing projectiles for the Russian-made tanks, Reuters reported, as quoted by BTA.

"Rostech" made his statement ahead of the July 8-9 visit to Russia by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will hold talks with President Vladimir Putin.

The ``Mango'' projectiles, which will be manufactured in India, are designed to be fired from the guns of T-72 and T-90 tanks used by India's ground forces, Rostec announced.

"The projectiles allow hitting modern tanks equipped with combined protection. Various modifications of these war machines are in service in India," the company said in a statement.

From "Rostech" state that they also have plans to localize gunpowder production in India as part of the Indian government's drive to make more foreign goods in India.

Moscow has long supplied equipment to the Indian army, Reuters recalls.
