Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.UNYX, its latest electric SUV designed specifically for the Chinese market, which is expected to go on sale later this month.

The ID.UNYX measures an impressive 4,663 millimeters long, 1,860 millimeters wide and 1,610 millimeters tall, all sitting on a 2,766-millimeter wheelbase. While its overall shape is undeniably similar to the Tavascan, VW has incorporated design changes to ensure the car falls into the established ID family aesthetic.

The front end features VW's familiar look with sharp headlights and a signature LED light bar. The grey model showcases a sleek exterior with glossy black accents adorning the front, further enhanced by a gold and black VW badge. Borrowing design cues from the Tavascan, the ID.UNYX features blacked-out A-pillars, sills and a rear diffuser for a sporty touch. The rear boasts intricately designed LED taillights connected to a light bar that completes the overall design.

All variants of the ID.UNYX will be powered by an 82.4 kWh battery pack from CATL. Base models will feature a single rear-mounted electric motor that develops 228 horsepower. Higher-end versions will climb the performance ladder, boasting a dual-motor configuration for a system output of 335 horsepower, achieved through a combination of a 228 hp rear motor and a 228 hp and a 107-hp front-wheel drive motor.

Based on the optimistic Chinese test cycle, range estimates suggest the base model can travel an impressive 380 miles on a single charge. The dual-motor variant offers a slightly lower range of 350 miles on a full charge.
