Survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS), conducted in the periods 16-22 May and 20-25 June 2024, showed that the majority of citizens of Ukraine (55%) do not agree to territorial concessions to Russia to end the war. The data is quoted by the Russian service of the BBC.
The share of Ukrainians who are ready to make territorial concessions to quickly achieve peace and preserve independence was 32% in May 2024, but according to the survey, this number has increased significantly since May 2023.
At the end of 2023, only 19% of Ukrainians were ready to accept territorial concessions to Russia, in February 2024 they were 26%, and in May 2024 - 32%.
At the same time, among those who are generally ready to make concessions, 73% want to be isolated from Russia - so that the borders between Ukraine and Russia are closed, visas and customs controls are introduced (among those who are against any discounts, approximately the same number of respondents are in favor of such an approach, 79%).
KMIS Executive Director Anton Hrushetsky, commenting on the results of the survey, considers it important that in the context of possible concessions, Ukrainians are against "peace under any conditions".
"Although there is ambivalence in the views of Ukrainians (and this is a completely normal situation for democratic societies), it is not as striking as they try to portray it, and the results of the survey show the flexibility of Ukrainians within a possible dialogue", quotes his words "Ukrainskaya Pravda".
