Is Donald Trump ending the war in Ukraine? His top diplomat is already ready with the plan, and it won't go down well wi - 1

Former Secretary of State US Mike Pompeo has proposed an action plan for Ukraine that he says Donald Trump can implement if he returns to the White House. In it, he proposes to sharply increase support for Kiev and thus force Russia to end the war.

Pompeo, who served as head of the US State Department for three years during Trump's presidency, published an article with his proposals in the Wall Street Journal.

According to Pompeo "experts say that if Donald Trump is re-elected president, he will end aid to Ukraine, abandon defense of its territory and negotiate directly with Vladimir Putin to force Kiev into a humiliating " ;peace".

The former head of the State Department assures that there are no grounds for such fears, since in 2017 Trump lifted the ban on arms supplies to Ukraine, introduced under President Barack Obama. Trump, he said, also supported House Speaker Mike Johnson, who has spoken out in favor of resuming military aid to Ukraine.

American journalists noted that Trump has repeatedly condemned the provision of military aid by the Joe Biden administration to Ukraine. He has also decided to raise J. D. Vance, who opposed support for Kiev, as a candidate for the vice president of the United States.

In addition, the media recall that supporters of the former president in Congress blocked the aid law for Ukraine for almost six months.

Trump promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours and said the countries should start peace talks. The former president did not specify exactly how he wants to achieve this.

Pompeo says the United States must restore peace to Ukraine from a position of strength, for which he proposes, among other things:

Introduction of real sanctions against Russia, which will also affect American banks that are connected to the production of Russian energy resources;

Strengthening NATO and forcing its members to allocate 3% of GDP to defense needs;

Establishing a $500 billion Lend-Lease program for Ukraine so that Kiev can borrow the necessary amount of defense funds;

Repeal all existing restrictions on arms supplies to Ukraine.

Pompeo believes these steps will allow Trump to create the conditions for a deal that would include an immediate end to the war, demilitarization of Crimea and non-recognition by the West of the occupation and annexation of Ukrainian territories.
