A representative of the Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) stated that the priority for the Russian forces at the moment are the attacks in the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
"It is here that the fiercest fighting takes place," Andriy Yusov from GUR told Ukrainian television.
There are battles in almost all directions in the Donbass coal-mining region, he added.
"On all other sections of the front, the enemy is launching attacks and maneuvers solely to divert attention," Yusov pointed out.
Numerous such attacks of a purely demonstrative nature are registered, mostly in the areas south of the city of Zaporizhia. In reality, these attacks are more about the regrouping and rebasing of units on the Russian side, Yusov believes.
But these operations are not entirely harmless, especially considering that Russia has about 90,000 troops in the Zaporozhye region.
According to Ukrainian military experts, forces with such numbers are not enough to achieve a serious breakthrough on the front, but they are definitely enough to maintain the pressure on the Ukrainian army.
