An 11-year-old boy was stabbed by a masked assailant while playing on a soccer field in a small Spanish a city south of Madrid, the state television RTVE reported yesterday, quoted by DPA and BTA.
The attacker appeared suddenly on the field in Mosejon, after which he stabbed the boy with a sharp object.
By the time paramedics arrived, the 11-year-old boy suffered heart failure and could not be resuscitated, the television reported.
A large-scale operation has begun to search for the unknown assailant.
The Prime Minister of the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, said he was shocked by the crime and expressed his condolences to the boy's family. He also called in a post on the social network "X" that the perpetrator be found and brought to justice.
