One of the F-16 fighter jets recently delivered to Slovakia made its first official flight over the country yesterday with a Slovak pilot in the cockpit, the Slovak armed forces announced on their “Facebook” profile, quoted by the Slovak news agency TASR, BTA reported.
According to the Armed Forces of the Republic, the most modern version of the F-16 Block 70 fighter in Europe is ready to serve and defend Slovakia's airspace with maximum efficiency. “It is now clear that the “Slovak Falcons“ will be an invaluable asset for the country's security”, noted the armed forces of the republic.
The first two Slovakian F-16 fighter jets, manufactured in the USA, landed at the military airport “Kucina” near Bratislava on July 22. Slovakia's third F-16 fighter jet is expected to arrive in the country in October, with five more aircraft expected in 2025. Slovakia signed a contract for a total of fourteen F-16 C/D Block 70 fighters in late 2018.
