The candidates of the ruling party "United Russia" convincingly won the gubernatorial elections in various regions of Russia, according to official results published today, cited by DPA and BTA.
Kremlin representatives achieved significant victories in all 21 electoral positions. The weakest performance was the governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, who, according to preliminary data, won less than 60% of the votes. He was considered unpopular due to the city's mismanagement, with independent observers noting serious interference in the administration.
In other regions, such as Astrakhan Oblast and Stavropol Territory, the candidates of "United Russia" Igor Babushkin and Vladimir Vladimirov won respectively 78.17% and 79.61% of the votes. In the Kursk region, acting governor Alexander Smirnov received 65% support.
These elections are seen as an indicator of the population's support for the Kremlin's policies, two and a half years after the start of the war in Ukraine.
