The United States will within hours allow Ukraine to attack military targets in Russia with long-range missiles weapons, sources close to Congress said.
Michael McCaul, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, has spoken to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who has assured him that during his visit to Kiev on 11 September he will announce the long-awaited news.
The information was spread by the American media Axios. First US diplomat Blinken will visit the Ukrainian capital together with the British foreign secretary. Washington will allow Ukrainian forces to attack military targets in Russia with ATACMS missiles.
Ukraine has long called on Western countries to lift these NATO-imposed restrictions for fear of escalation.
For Sky News, Anthony Blinken said that President Joe Biden “is not ruling out” to allow Ukraine to launch missiles deep into Russian territory. Ukraine, according to international laws, has this right to defend itself against the Russian aggressor.
