Support for the Greek radical left SYRIZA, the second force in the country's parliament, registered a collapse, after the internal party crisis that began after the European Parliament elections in June led to the removal of Stefanos Kaselakis from the leadership post, BNR reported.
This is shown by the latest public opinion survey conducted by the agency “Metron Analysis” and published by the Greek media.
According to the data, SYRIZA fell from second to fifth place in the preferences of Greek voters.
New Democracy retains its first place in the preferences of the Greeks. 22 percent of those asked would vote for her, which, if those who say they won't vote or don't answer the question are taken out, means she would get close to 30 percent in the election - a result slightly higher than in the European elections in June.
After many years outside the first two political forces, the center-left movement PASOK is in second place - respectively with support of 11.6 percent and a potential election result of 15.7 percent.
