Ekaterina Zaharieva is one of the five nominated European Commissioners with the greatest probability of being rejected, writes "Politico", quoted by BNR.
The publication states that she is on a "bullet" and rewrites his September 10th post. It recalls an article by "Euroactive" from 2018, according to which Zaharieva is involved in a scandal with the issuance of Bulgarian passports against bribes. She was then the Minister of Justice.
At the top of the list is the Hungarian candidate Oliver Varhei. Until now, he was European Commissioner for Enlargement and Good Neighbourhood. In the future Commission, he will be responsible for animal health and welfare. He was criticized that in the previous Commission he courted candidates for EU membership with problems with the rule of law, and before 2023 he called MEPs "idiots".
Slovenian Marta Kos has been called the "ambassador in disgrace". Her competence will be questioned. In 2020, she resigned as ambassador to Germany and Switzerland amid allegations of abuse and was investigated by the Foreign Office.
Belgian Hadja Labib is likely to be questioned about her past. Of particular interest may be her trip to Crimea as a journalist. It was funded by Russia. The issue of visas for Iranian officials, which almost cost Labib the post of foreign minister, is also of interest.
The fifth is the Maltese candidate for the EC, Glenn Micallef, whose nomination surprised even his fellow party members due to his lack of experience for such a post, writes "Politico".
