The battle for the Kursk region! The Ukrainian Army is on the verge of holding a huge geopolitical victory

If the Armed Forces of Ukraine hold the Kursk region in the winter, this will be not only a military, but also a major geopolitical victory for Ukraine. Such was the opinion expressed by the military expert colonel from the VSU Piotr Chernik in an interview with the army television, reports UNIAN.

He noted that in the course of the Kursk operation, Ukrainian forces captured a fairly large bridgehead - more than 1,000 square kilometers. According to Chernyk, most likely the Ukrainian military is now consolidating there.

"For the Russians, this is a big challenge, first of all, from a political point of view. Putin said that it was impossible for someone to come to their territory and conduct military operations. But it became possible", explained Chernik.

He noted that now the Russians will try by all means to push the Ukrainian armed forces out of the Kursk region.

"If we manage to hold the bridgehead in the fall and in the winter, it will be a huge not only military, but also geopolitical victory for us,” says Chernik.

The expert also noted that the Kursk operation is directly related to the events taking place on the Eastern Front

"The enemy still had to divert a large part of his forces and means. There is such a thing as a combat army reserve, which amounts to 10% to 15% of the total number of troops that participate in the war. If the enemy has up to 600 thousand along the demarcation line, then their reserve should be 60-80 thousand, which would actually divert to the Kursk region. But there is a nuance – preemptive extermination. We destroy them on average 32-36 thousand per month, and they can take out 32-34 thousand, no more. And 2 thousand from half year to half year is a lot. And indeed, the enemy at this moment has colossal problems with spare resources”, explained Chernik.

Therefore, according to him, the Russians are currently forced to withdraw troops from one sector or another for the Kursk operation.

"And this gives us a chance to stabilize the front, and in the Pokrov part we definitely stabilized it,”, emphasized Chernik.

He also noted that the Russians started an offensive on the Kurakhovo direction after realizing that the VSU had concentrated serious forces and means that could not be penetrated on the Pokrovsky direction. This means that the accent is shifted.

At the same time, Chernik noted that the goal of the Russians has not changed and will not change - they will do everything possible and even impossible to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"It is very important for us to hold out until the rains, because then this movement will stop, we will enter into a counter-battery battle,”, he added.
