"Trump Organization" (Trump Organization), the main company of US presidential candidate Donald Trump, is exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam's Hung Yen province, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the province's People's Committee, cited by BTA.
Representatives of the company, which is part of Trump's family business, visited the province on Monday and met with local officials to discuss investment opportunities, the committee said in a statement after the meeting.
Hung Yen, 50 kilometers southeast of Hanoi, is the hometown of Vietnamese President General To Lam and also an industrial center in North Vietnam.
"The province always supports investors by creating favorable administrative procedures for foreign investors to cooperate and develop their business here," the Hung Yen People's Committee said in a statement.
Committee Chairman Tran Quoc Van was quoted by state media yesterday as saying that the "Trump Organization" has plans to build a hotel, golf course and several recreational facilities in the countryside.
The US-based company has yet to respond to an emailed query from "Reuters" for comment.
Analysis by "Reuters" from last month shows that the golf course and resort business is the biggest source of cash flow for the "Trump Organization", which includes hundreds of other companies owned by former US President Donald Trump.
According to the Vietnam Golf Association, the country of 100 million people currently has about 70 golf courses and 100,000 local golfers.
"We welcome foreign investors to develop golf courses in Vietnam, where the number of golfers is growing rapidly due to strong economic growth," said the association's general secretary Vu Nguyen.
