One person was killed and 13 people were injured in Russian shelling today, in nursing home in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, Ukrinform reported, BTA reported.
„As a result of the blow inflicted at 19:00 (Bulgarian time), one person died and 13 received injuries of varying degrees of severity,” reported on his channel in "Telegram" the local military administration, as quoted by Ukrinform. According to the regional governor, Volodymyr Artyukh, the injured were taken to hospital.
Television footage showed volunteers tending to elderly people in wheelchairs and on stretchers, DPA said. According to Artyukh, more than 200 people were in the nursing home at the time of the attack, some of whom needed care.
Over the past few days, the Russian military has repeatedly attacked critical infrastructure in the Sumy region, particularly the regional capital, using missiles, planning bombs and drones. Since then, electricity and water supply in Sumy have been interrupted, DPA notes.
The Russian army also shelled the village of Vilcha, Chuguyevsky district, in the neighboring Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office reported, as quoted by Ukrinform. According to her data, a local resident was killed. Residential and administrative buildings were damaged.
