US arms sales to Taiwan seriously violate the "One China Principle" ; and the provisions of the joint communiques between China and the United States. This was stated by Zhang Xiaogang, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
Zhang Xiaogang noted that Beijing has made serious representations to the US side on the matter.
Earlier this week, China imposed sanctions on nine American companies over arms deals with Taiwan.
China considers democratically governed Taiwan to be its territory, despite Taipei's strong objections.
