European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived this morning on visit to Ukraine, quoted by BTA.
"My eighth visit to Kyiv takes place at an extremely important moment," she told the journalists traveling with her, among whom there is also a special envoy of the European Newsroom - a platform for cooperation between European news agencies, part of which is the Bulgarian Telegraph agency.
"The heating season starts in two weeks, and Russia's incessant attacks on Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure aim to inflict maximum damage,'' Von der Leyen added. She announced that she will provide Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with the European Commission's plan for Ukraine's winter preparedness. The plan envisages additional support worth around 160 million euros, which will help cover more than 25% of the country's electricity needs.
Her last visit to the Ukrainian capital was in February.
