In Russia, they are already talking about the end of the special military operation, as the Kremlin regime calls its military aggression against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian conflict is unlikely to end before the end of 2024 due to the positions of the warring parties, State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa told Lenta.ru. However, he acknowledged that the settlement process could begin in the spring of 2025.
The politician recalled the “plan for victory” of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and noted that it was unlikely to be implemented. Besides, according to Chepa, the head of state himself does not believe in this possibility. “He talks about this plan as a plan to win, but he doesn't really believe it can ever be accomplished. But in this way, he relieves himself of additional responsibility and transfers it to the US, which will be accused of not fulfilling its obligations to supply weapons, etc.”, Chepa said.
The Russian lawmaker added that there was always the possibility of ending the confrontation, but this was thwarted by Western countries that sought to prolong the conflict. By the end of this year, according to Chepa, their positions will hardly change.
„Before the end of the year [the chance of starting negotiations] is unlikely. In the spring there is a chance. The problem is that all measures were taken to avoid negotiations. I am referring to Kursk and other similar events," the politician clarified.
