Zelensky signed a law to increase military spending - 1

The Ukrainian army will receive more money to fight the Russian invaders in accordance with a new law signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, DPA reported, BTA reported.

Local media reported today that the law, passed earlier by parliament, increases military spending by 500 billion hryvnias (about $12 billion). The increase will be financed by loans, taxes and increases in excise duties on tobacco and fuels. It will also be used to pay cash allowances to soldiers at the front this month.

On Wednesday, the Verkhovna Rada passed an additional budget because of the ongoing war. It will increase budget spending by about 13 percent to about 90.5 billion dollars - a record amount for Ukraine, DPA notes.

Kiev continues to defend itself against a Russian invasion for more than two and a half years. Ukraine claims that since the beginning of the war in February 2022, it has received foreign financial aid in the amount of more than 98 billion dollars, DPA notes.
