A second case of tomatoes from Turkey containing traces of a banned pesticide was detected in Croatia within a week, reports the Croatian news site Danica, citing refers to data from yesterday in the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed.

In tomatoes from Turkey again, as a week ago, traces of the banned pesticide indoxacarb were found - 0.032 milligrams per kilogram.

Sanitary inspectors did the analysis already at the Croatian border and therefore the tomatoes did not enter the market in Croatia, but were ordered to be destroyed.

The EU's rapid alert system for food and feed indicated that the consignment posed a potential health risk.

This week, the banned pesticide chlorpyrifos was also found at the Croatian border in a shipment of tomatoes from Turkey. And this shipment was destroyed.
