The Lebanese government has declared three days of national mourning after the killing of the head of "Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut - a stronghold of the pro-Iranian Islamist movement, reported AFP, quoted by dariknews.bg.

"After the martyrdom of the leader of Hezbollah" Hassan Nasrallah, who joined the list of people killed by the perfidious Israeli aggression against Lebanon, is declared an official mourning from September 30 to October 2 inclusive", the government announced in a communique.

Lebanon's caretaker prime minister Najib Mikat said his country was in danger after an Israeli airstrike killed the head of the Lebanese armed group "Hezbollah" the previous day.

Mikati said this at anextraordinary government meeting called by him after his return from the UN General Assembly in New York. The prime minister did not mention Nasrallah in his statement, but his office later announced a decision to declare three days of mourning for the slain leader of Hezbollah.

Meanwhile Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced five days of mourning after Nasrallah's death, France Press reported.

"I express my condolences for the martyrdom of the great Nasrallah and his associates, and declare five days of national mourning in Iran,'' Khamenei announced in a statement published by the official IRNA news agency.

Meanwhile, Israel struck a warehouse near the airport in the Lebanese capital Beirut - Lebanon's only international airport for passengers, AFP reported, quoted by BTA.

„An Israeli strike targeted a warehouse near the airport”, a Lebanese security source said
