The mass punishment of Palestinians that Israel started after the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, is unacceptable. This punitive action carried out with American weapons must be stopped, stressed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
"There is and cannot be any justification for the terrorist acts of which the Israelis were victims on October 7 last year,", noted Lavrov. “But anyone who still has a sense of compassion is outraged that the October tragedy is being used for massive collective punishment of the Palestinians, which has become an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.“
“The killing of Palestinian civilians with American weapons must be stopped immediately”, the Russian minister stressed. “The delivery of humanitarian aid to the enclave must be ensured and the restoration of infrastructure must be organized.“
"The most important thing is to ensure the implementation of the Palestinians' legitimate right to self-determination and to allow them, not in words but in deeds, as they say, on the ground, to establish a territorially continuous and viable state within the 1967 borders and with its capital in “East Jerusalem”, the minister concluded, calling it a “stalling of consensus resolutions to establish an independent Palestinian state coexisting in peace and security with Israel for nearly 80 years&rdquo ; as a glaring example of sparing UN decisions.
