Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again thanked Romania for providing the “Patriot“ system. He did this in a video statement on Wednesday evening, reports Digi24, quoted by BTA.

„Thanks to every country that really helps us with air defense. Special thanks to Romania for the “Patriot”, said the Ukrainian President.

Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that joint air defense be provided in the areas near the NATO countries and that these countries assist in shooting down Russian drones and missiles.

„We can achieve even greater efficiency – we can completely end Russian terror by shooting down the “Shaheed“ and missiles in cooperation”, he added, urging acceptance of the idea that NATO allies in Ukraine's neighborhood should operate from their own territory.

According to Zelensky, this move is “absolutely possible” and gave an example of the Middle East, when during Iran's attacks on Israel “the international coalition acted together” and intercepted rockets and drones that threatened Israeli territory.

On September 3, the Romanian Parliament approved a government project to donate one surface-to-air missile system “Patriot” to a third party. The draft law aims to regulate the approval of an act of donating a surface-to-air missile system “Patriot” in the configuration agreed with the American partner, while authorizing the Romanian government to take the necessary steps to restore ground-based air defense capabilities by acquiring another surface-to-air missile system “Patriot” from the United States.

In June, the Supreme Defense Council, chaired by President Klaus Iohannis, decided to provide Romania with the “Patriot” air defense system. of Ukraine.
