The German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU), which is based in the state of Bavaria, a partner of the CDU, expressed today their readiness to win the parliamentary elections at the federal level next year, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

"We are determined to win the Bundestag elections next year," CDU leader Friedrich Merz said at a CSU party conference in the southern German city of Augsburg.

Germany needs a government that is not torn apart by internal strife, Merz said in an address to Chancellor Olaf Scholz's coalition government.

"We will lead a government in which public disputes will finally stop," Mertz told delegates at the conference.

Furthermore, the next government will have to restore trust and policy consistency, said the CDU leader, who has ambitions to become Germany's next chancellor in next year's elections.

Upon his arrival in Augsburg, Merz was greeted with thunderous applause by the delegates to the party conference of the CSU.
