The minimum gross wage in Romania from On January 1, 2025, it will be 4,050 lei (1,591 leva), Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Cholaku announced after a meeting of the National Tripartite Council yesterday. Cholaku added that the non-taxable threshold of 300 lei within the minimum wage will be preserved, as quoted by BTA.

„In the National Tripartite Council, we reached an agreement that from January 1, 2025, the minimum wage will be 4,050 lei. In this way, we are getting closer to the European minimum wage! We comply with the European directive, which states that this amount should be between 47 and 52 percent of the average salary in the country (Romania will be at 47 percent)“, the Romanian Prime Minister wrote on Facebook.

On July 1 of this year the minimum gross salary in Romania was increased from 3,300 lei (1,297 BGN) to 3,700 lei (1,454 BGN), which represents an increase of 12.12 percent. With the non-taxable threshold of 300 lei in the minimum wage, one worker in Romania receives 2,363 lei (BGN 928) net, according to the information site HotNews.

According to data from the Ministry of Labor in Romania, about 760,000 workers receive the minimum wage, which represents 13.9 percent of the total number of employed.

1,871,266 workers will benefit from the increase in the minimum gross salary in the country.
