Donald Trump may try to take power even if he loses the election - 1

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump Trump may try to take power even if he loses the elections in November, Politico notes, recalling that “four years ago he already tried to realize such a scenario”, quoted by BTA.

„Dozens of interviews with people involved in the election process confirm that not only can Trump make a second attempt to overturn the election he will lose, but that he and his allies are already laying the groundwork for it,”, the editorial office assures .

Trump's desire to win power and protect the White House is stronger than ever: If he loses, he faces an avalanche of criminal proceedings that could last for the rest of his life. If he wins, they will most likely be terminated.

While no one knows exactly how Trump might attack the electoral system in 2024, Politico, citing lawmakers, congressional investigators, party officials and constitutional law experts, lays out a rough scenario from several points:

1. Trump will deepen mistrust of election results by making baseless or exaggerated claims of widespread voter fraud and filing lawsuits challenging enough ballots to swing results in key states.

2. He will rely on friendly state and local officials to oppose the certification of election results.

3. He will call on allies in Republican-controlled legislatures in swing states to appoint “alternative“ members of the colleges.

4. It will rely on Republican congressmen to support these alternative voters – or at least reject those of the Democratic Party.

5. Trump will try to eliminate Harris' 270 votes in the Electoral College by sending the election to the House of Representatives, where Republicans will likely have enough votes to elect Trump as the next president.

As Politico notes, Trump already has some of the necessary “ingredients” for this campaign.

Thus, he has already set out on a clear mission to stoke as much uncertainty as possible about the election results, arguing that the only way Kamala Harris will lose is if the Democrats “cheat”. Also, many of the officials who stood in Trump's way four years ago have been removed or resigned, ceding power to more accommodating successors who are positive about him. There have also been increased threats against election officials and growing fears of civil unrest.
