In the last week, Russian troops have managed to seize about 150 square kilometers of the territory of the Donetsk region. This was announced by the commander of the Intelligence Center of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia, Colonel Ants Kiviselg, reports ERR, quoted by Focus.
According to the Tallinn military, the Russians still hold the initiative along the entire front line, which is “forcing Ukrainian forces to gradually retreat”.
„The Russian armed forces most successfully captured the regions of Donetsk region, in particular Pokrovsk, Kurakhovsk, Ugledarsk and Velikonoselkovsk. In the past week, the Russian Federation has taken over another 150 square kilometers in these areas”, Kiviselg said.
He also noted that there are indications of preparations for an offensive by Russian troops in the Zaporozhye region.
„Probably, future attacks will involve the already known 76th Assault Division permanently based in Pskov. The goal will be the capture of new territories, as well as the additional 'tying up' of the Ukrainian forces in the area”, Kiviselg specified.
Summarizing, he added that it is not out of the question that this year the Russian forces “perform a local breakthrough in Pokrovsk, Kurakhovsk or Ugledar region”.
