US President Donald Trump said that Venezuela has agreed to take back all of its illegal immigrants currently in the United States, including members of the criminal group "Tren de Aragua", Reuters reported, BTA reports.
"We are in the process of removing a record number of illegal aliens from the United States and all countries have agreed to take back these illegal aliens," Trump wrote on the social network "Truth Social".
Trump also said that Venezuela has also agreed to provide transportation for the migrants.
The Venezuelan government has not yet commented Trump's claims.
US envoy Richard Grenell met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela on Wednesday. Hours after their meeting, six Americans detained there were released and returned to the US by Venezuela.
The announcement of Venezuela's decision to accept the return of its citizens who were in the US illegally comes a week after Trump threatened to impose tariffs and sanctions after Colombia refused to accept military flights carrying deportees. Colombia reversed course and agreed to take in the migrants after Trump's threats.
