The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, does not plan to give an official greeting on the occasion of the victory of Donald Trump in the United States. He recalled that the United States is an "enemy country" that "directly and indirectly participates in the war against Russia," reports the Kommersant newspaper, quoted by BTA.
Commenting on the future policy of the new American president towards the Russian Federation, Peskov noted that "any speculations here are inappropriate".
He assured that Putin remains ready for dialogue with the US, but whether Washington's attitude will change will become clear in January 2025, when the new US president takes office.
"President Putin has repeatedly said that he is open to a constructive dialogue based on fairness, equality and a willingness to take into account the concerns of the other side. He has confirmed this attitude many times," the Kremlin spokesman emphasized.
"At the moment, the US administration has a diametrically opposed attitude, but we will see what happens in January,", he added.
