Swedish authorities announced last night that they are investigating damage to a telecommunications cable with Lithuania, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
It is located in the Baltic Sea, near the telecommunications cable between Germany and Finland, which was announced earlier yesterday as having been cut.
"It is absolutely important to clarify why we currently have two cables in the Baltic Sea that are not working,", Swedish Civil Protection Minister Karl-Oscar Bolin told public television.
Finland and Germany have expressed deep concern over the incident with the cable connecting them. Europe's security is threatened by Russia's war on Ukraine and by a "hybrid war waged by malefactors" factors, their joint statement said, without mentioning specific countries, Reuters noted.
After the outbreak of war in 2022. several similar incidents took place in the Baltic Sea, including the explosion of the "Nord Stream" gas pipelines. 1 and 2 for delivery of "blue fuel" from Russia to Germany.
