Against the backdrop of significant combat losses and the gradual depletion of resources, the Russian military and political leadership is trying to draw another country into the war against Ukraine, UNIAN reports, quoted by Focus.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in addition to the massive involvement of mercenaries from Africa and Asia, as well as units from the DPRK, the Kremlin is considering the possibility of involving the so-called partners in the war against Ukraine "under the guise of implementing humanitarian projects in the Russian regions bordering Ukraine".
"Another country that Russia is trying to involve in the war is Laos", the GRU emphasizes.
The intelligence service specifies that the Kremlin is currently organizing the inclusion of a consolidated detachment of the engineering troops of the Lao People's Army in the demining of territories in the Kursk region. "This country is highly dependent on foreign aid, therefore, as the intelligence service notes, the Lao leadership initially expressed its readiness to send up to 50 sappers to Russia".
In addition, Laos is treating Russian servicemen wounded in the war against Ukraine free of charge.
"Under the guise of humanitarian rhetoric, Russia is trying to legitimize the presence of a foreign military contingent on its territory, using it to support military operations against Ukraine", the GRU stated.
