The European Commission (EC) has announced the data on migration under the Dublin Regulation for 2024.
This is clear from the official announcement from the EC.
In 2024, EU countries sent 151,830 outgoing requests for the transfer of migrants to other EU countries and carried out 16,455 outgoing transfers.
Compared to the previous year 2023, this represents a decrease of approximately 19% in requests and 3% in transfers. In 2023, they were 186,910 and 16,869, respectively.
The EC statistics provide information on the functioning of the Dublin Regulation. It determines which EU country is responsible for examining a given asylum application.
The highest number of outgoing requests using the Dublin procedure were sent by Germany (74,581), France (30,986) and Belgium (12,501), representing 78% of all outgoing requests in 2024.
The lowest number recorded was sent by Latvia (32), Spain (52) and Slovakia (66).
The highest number of outgoing transfers was made by Germany (5,827), followed by France (2,624) and the Netherlands (2,245).
In contrast, Spain (2), Portugal (3) and Ireland (6) reported the lowest numbers.
Bulgaria sent 139 requests, but managed to transfer 53 people.
The highest number of readmission applications was received by Italy (42,807), ahead of Croatia (23,721) and Greece (17,163), which together accounted for 50% of all applications in 2024.
Here Bulgaria ranks 6th with 11,069 applications and 589 people returned from the EU.
The fewest readmission requests were registered in Ireland (92), followed by Estonia (129) and Slovakia (232).
The highest number of incoming transfers were carried out by Germany (4,591), France (2,201) and Croatia (1,698). At the same time, the lowest numbers were reported by Estonia (6), Cyprus (9) and Ireland (14).
