Orban calls for ceasefire in Ukraine, highlights risks of global uncertainty - 1

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban received members of the Hungarian Diaspora Council, who held a meeting in Budapest, the Hungarian news agency MTI reported, citing the Prime Minister's press secretary Bertalan Havasi, quoted by BTA.

Speaking about world politics, Orban told those present that while Donald Trump's election as president would put an end to the progressive and liberal US government, the two months before he takes office “will bring a lot of uncertainty to the US and Europe and this could be a source of enormous risks“.

“Those who are on the side of war have not yet acknowledged reality. We must do everything in our power to prevent the escalation of the war in Ukraine - a ceasefire and peace talks have never been more important than now, Orbán said.

“This is even more important because the Hungarian government has prepared a peace budget to help the success of its new economic policy,“ the prime minister added. “Based on this budget, people and companies can look more positively to the future,“ he added.
