Users of the social network TikTok from Canada began to complain about the inability to use the application after it was blocked in the neighboring United States, reported The Mirror US.
According to him, dozens of Canadians expressed outrage on social networks, claiming that the suspension of TikTok in the US makes it impossible to use it in Canada. Users noted that they could not use the application because a message appeared on the screen, similar to the one often seen among TikTok users in the US: “The law banning TikTok has come into effect in the US. Unfortunately, this means you still can't use TikTok."
The publication also clarified that the app was not blocked for all users in Canada.
The blocking of TikTok in the US is related to a law signed by President Joe Biden in 2024, according to which the Chinese corporation ByteDance must sell TikTok to a US company by January 19 to avoid the ban. TikTok said that the platform would stop operating in the United States on January 19 unless it received clear assurances from its outgoing administration that the ban would not lead to sanctions on the company's technology partners. The app subsequently stopped working in the US.
