US President Joe Biden called "historic" the agreement on financing poorer countries in the fight against climate change, reached at the UN climate conference (COP29) in Azerbaijan, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

No one can stop the transition to clean energy currently underway in the United States, Biden also said.

In a statement the American president published today, it is said that the agreement reached in Baku sets an ambitious goal in the field of financing the fight against climate change.

Joe Biden pointed out that the agreement will help mobilize financing at various levels and create a market for American electric cars and other climate-friendly products.

Alluding to US President-elect Donald Trump, who has pledged to increase oil production once he takes office on January 20, Biden said that "even though some are trying to deny or slow down the clean energy revolution that is happening in America and in the world, no one can stop her".

German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock also welcomed the agreement.

"We know that our solutions today will not be enough to cover all needs," Berbock said.

The German minister emphasized that the agreement reached is only a starting point and assured that Germany will fulfill its commitment to provide the promised funding.

This is so "because we have learned from our mistakes of the past", Berbok pointed out, adding that the European Union realizes what its obligations are.

"It is crystal clear for the EU: no one has forgotten their historical responsibility," said the German minister.
