On Thursday, the electronic platform will be opened, on which unemployed people in Greece will be able to apply for state funding to start their own business, Sky TV reported, quoted by BTA.
The amount that applicants can receive is 17 thousand euros, paid in three stages.
Application conditions
Those wishing to apply must submit a business plan that proves the sustainability of the project. The program is intended for unemployed people registered with the Public Employment Service between the ages of 30 and 59. Eligible to participate are:
- Greek citizens,
- EU citizens or third-country nationals with a legal permit to reside and work in Greece for at least 12 months.
The businesses that the applicants want to open must operate legally on the territory of the country.
How is the funding disbursed?
The amount of 17 thousand euros is provided in three tranches:
- 5 thousand euros upon start-up,
- 6 thousand euros after the first six months,
- Another 6 thousand euros after the end of the second semester.
Funding and number of beneficiaries
The program has a budget of 100 million euros, provided by the Greek state budget and by the European Union. It is expected that around 5,800 people will receive support to start their own business.
Who is organizing the program?
The initiative is implemented by the Greek Public Employment Service with the aim of stimulating entrepreneurship and reducing unemployment.
