More than 70 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested in London's “Trafalgar“ Square on suspicion of violating protest rules after the protesters broke through a police cordon, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
The protest in solidarity with the Palestinians was supposed to be held in one place after police thwarted organizers' plans to march near the BBC headquarters and a synagogue.
Thousands of protesters, including former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, marched through “Trafalgar“ after the speeches at the rally.
The protesters clashed with a police cordon and eventually broke through it, with those who found themselves in the square later being pushed to one end.
London police warned the protesters to disperse or face arrest, later announcing that 77 of them had been arrested.
