During the talks with Ukraine, Russia has offered a ceasefire for two to three days in certain areas of the front. This was announced by the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, at a press conference after the meeting in Istanbul, Meduza reported.
According to him, a short-term ceasefire is being proposed to collect the bodies of the dead. He said that Russia will hand over the bodies of 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine.
Medinsky confirmed that the parties have agreed to exchange seriously wounded soldiers and prisoners under the age of 25. Medinsky also showed a list of Ukrainian children received from Kiev, whose return the Ukrainian side demands. It contains 339 names.
Ukrainian delegates have handed Russian negotiators a list of children that Kiev wants returned to Ukraine, Ukrainian President Andriy Yermak's chief of staff confirmed.
Recent days have been marked by a series of shocking attacks, and there were no high expectations that any significant progress would be made in today's second round of talks to end the more than three-year war, the AP agency reports.
Today's talks in Istanbul again ended without success in terms of prospects for ending the war. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his great desire was to get Zelensky and Putin to sit at the same table - in Istanbul or Ankara - and achieve peace. For now, there are no such prospects.
