The head of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB), former president of Brazil (2011-2016), Dilma Rousseff, confirmed that the members of the financial organization unanimously approved her re-election for a new term.
"I was re-elected. They nominated me and the board unanimously approved this decision," the Brazilian newspaper O Globo quoted her as saying.
Rousseff added that the BRICS countries would strive to continue participating in mutually beneficial investment projects, rather than creating a single community currency. "I think they will pay great attention to investments and investment platforms," she stressed.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva intends to visit Russia in May.
This was stated by the special assistant to the leader of the South American republic for international affairs Celso Amorim.
"The president will come to Russia in May, where he will have a bilateral meeting with Putin," Amorim said in an interview with the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.
The assistant to the Brazilian leader added that after completing his visit to Russia, Lula da Silva intends to travel to China for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. "This will clearly show that Brazil is not subordinate to anyone," he stressed.
In January, Lula da Silva announced to Putin that he intended to visit Russia on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
