Paris Summit: What will future support for Ukraine look like? - 1

A high-level meeting in support of Ukraine will be held in Paris today, with the main focus being security guarantees in the event of a possible ceasefire between Kiev and Moscow, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

High-ranking representatives from 31 countries are expected to attend the forum, called the “coalition of the willing”, the office of French President Emmanuel Macron announced.

The meeting, which will start at 10:00 local time (11:00 Bulgarian time), aims to finalize a multi-layered framework of military guarantees and support for Kiev, developed at the initiative of France and Britain. Participants will include NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to sources, the meeting will discuss additional military assistance to Kiev, as well as diplomatic steps towards a possible ceasefire. The discussions will focus on long-term strategies to strengthen Ukraine's military and defense capabilities so that the country is prepared for any future Russian aggression in the event of a ceasefire, DPA notes.

The possibility of deploying European forces in Ukraine as part of a peace agreement will also be discussed. According to the Elysee Palace, these troops will have a stabilizing role and will support the ceasefire without taking part in hostilities.

However, the main guarantor of Ukraine's security will remain the United States, although Washington has not yet made a formal commitment, DPA emphasizes.
